your mother’s blanket

Yesterday it was 75 degrees;
today I can’t get warm.
Snow in April.
Fingers numb and blue.
I want to warm them
on the heat of you.
Skin to skin.
But, you left hours ago,
and I am left with your
mother’s blanket. The one she
sent with you to college.
It won’t cover my feet and
my shoulders at the same time.
It has no give.
No matter how hard I pull.
